Easy Oven Barbcued Ribs AND Homemade Popcicles

Easy Oven Barbcued Ribs

I've heard people say over and over again that cooking barbcued ribs is so difficult. Here is a great recipe that let's you quilt all day with minimal amount of time in the kitchen. In other words these are EASY and they taste great.

First of all I don't give exact measurements. It's that easy. It's like grandma used to cook, a little of this and a little of that.

Heat oven to 400 degrees

INGREDIENTS: Onion, Lemons, Ribs, Bar-b-que Sauce. Only 4 Ingredients!!!!! How easy is that? How many onions and lemons depends on how many ribs you're cooking. Usually one bottle of sauce does it.

You can use PORK ribs or BEEF ribs. It doesn't matter. How many doesn't matter. Just depends on how big your pan is. I use the broiler pan that came with my oven.

Thaw ribs nite before if frozen. You can leave in a slab or cut them into two bone pieces. Two bone pieces cook a little faster.

Put the ribs in the pan. Cut onion into slices and scatter over the top of ribs. Cut lemon in half, pick out seeds, and squeeze lemon juice over top of ribs and onions.

Put in 400 degree oven and cook for 1/2 hour. After the half hour is up turn the oven down to 350 degrees. Pour off any fat which has accumulated in the pan.

Pour bar-b-que sauce over the top of the ribs. If I use bottled sauce I just squirt it out right from the bottle all over the top of the ribs. I don't brush it on with a brush. If I use my home-made sauce I just drizzle it over the top right from the bowl or pan I made it in. What kind of sauce you use doesn't matter. Buy or home make it.

Add water to the pan. Like I said, I use the broiler pan that came with my oven and it is about 2" high. I almost fill the pan with water. Not so much as to slop over into the oven but it's a goodly amount. Don't pour the water over the ribs or you'll wash off the bar-b-que sauce.

Now let them cook. Don't cover. You'll have to check on them once in awhile, say every half hour or so to see if you need to turn them or add more water. The water will cook down. By the end of the cooking time there will be very little water in the pan just bar-b-que sauce and meat juices.

I cook mine for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. They will be falling off the bone tender and delicious.

That's it. Enjoy.

If you try this recipe, let me know how they turned out and if your family liked them.

OK HOW ABOUT SOMETHING COLD

HOMEMADE DELICIOUS BETTER THAN STORE BOUGHT

POPCICLES

Makes 12 (3 oz) Frozen Wonders

1 (3 oz) Pkg Geletin Mix (Name Brand Jello)

1 (.15 oz) pkg Drink Mix (Name Brand Kool-Aid)

Choose whatever flavor you like. Choose same flavors geletin and drink mix. Or mix and match for a different flavor. Or make half and half. If you make half and half you have to freeze first half then add second half.

1 cup Sugar

2 cups boiling Water

2 cups cold Water

12 (3oz) Paper Drinking Cups (Get in paper products section in supermarket usually found with bathroom cups)

12 Craft Sticks (Popcicle Sticks) (Can be found in craft stores, huge box reasonably priced)

Dissolve GELATIN, DRINK MIX & SUGAR in boiling WATER.

Stir in COLD WATER. Mix thoroughly until all SUGAR, GELATIN and DRINK MIX is dissolved.

Pour into PAPER CUPS. Fill to brim but remember you'll have to carry them to the freezer so be careful. I put the empty cups on a large cookie sheet prior to filling.

Clear a space in your freezer that will accomodate the cookie sheet.

Freeze until almost firm. Add the STICKS and freeze until firm.

HINT: When it's time to eat the popcicles; turn them upside down and run under cold water and the cup will slip right off. If you don't want to do that, you'll have to tear the cup off. Find the seam of the cup and begin tearing in downward motion and the cup will slip off. Turn rightside up and enjoy slurping.

Pictured are Orange, Grape, Cherry, Lemon and Lime. My favorite is Cherry.

Even though I don't use recipes very often anymore, I have a vast library of easy recipes.

If there is an easy recipe you're looking for leave a message in the guestbook and I'll see if I have it. Be sure to leave a valid email address so I can email what I have to you.
